Quest description

"Santa Burglas" is a quest with a thrilling plot that consists of ready-made cards with tasks and hints.

The essence of the quest is that the organizer lays out the hint cards with tasks in a certain sequence in the specified places around the house. At the beginning of the quest, the children are left with the first hint instead of gifts (any surprise or sweets). In our quests, the first hint is usually designed in the form of a thematic letter based on the plot of the quest.

Solving one task after another, the children move along the chain – the answer to each task indicates where to look for the next clue, and the last one states where the gift is hidden.

The legend behind the quest

In the "Santa Burglas" quest the mission is a little bigger than just finding a stolen gift: you need to collect all the digits of the secret phone number from the hint cards – this will be the number of your adult assistant. Children will send them a text message and find out the place where the gifts are hidden.

Who is this quest for?

The quest is suitable for teenagers of 10-16 years old and adults, the tasks in it are diverse and not too complicated – you will not need encyclopedic knowledge, but you’ll still have to make your brain work!

One child, a child with a parent or a big group of friends – everyone will have enough activities and teamwork. The quest is also suitable for a school class (older than the fifth grade) – we have collected a selection of active and creative games in the instructions for the quest – everyone will have something to do.

The quest has no time limits, it is suitable for Christmas, New Year's Eve or the morning of January, 1st – you choose convenient time yourself.

What is included in the package

The set includes three files in PDF format:

1. 11 bright and colourful hint cards with tasks for home and school (for printing on a black-and-white or color printer): logical tasks, musical hint, a secret map, creative tasks and questions for attentiveness and ingenuity. No ordinary puzzles and crosswords! 7 A4 pages for printing in each variant.
2. Instructions for preparing the quest: detailed instructions about what and where to hide and which hint leads where (with answers). Secret advice and life hacks on how to make the quest interesting for children and easy for adults to prepare.
3. The envelope template (for your convenience, if you want to hide hints in envelopes).

How to conduct the "Santa Burglas" quest

No need to conduct anything – the children will pass the quest and move forward on their own! Giving them a hint here and there is all that may be needed. You can give it in exchange for some fun task, like a song or dance. It will take you about 30 minutes to prepare.

To arrange the quest, you need to:

1. Carefully read the instructions, print out the hint cards with tasks. For one task, you will need a handful of coins.
2. Make an arrangement with an adult accomplice (whose phone number the children do not know), they will have to answer the children’s text message and tell them where the gifts are hidden. Enter the digits of the real phone number of this person (acting as Santa Burglas) – one for each card.
3. Print, cut the cards and hide them according to the instructions.
4. Before the quest, hide the gifts and put a letter from Santa Burglas under the Christmas tree instead of gifts. The quest has begun!

There are two variants of cards in the quest – one for home and one for school (beginning from grade 5). The following hiding places are used in the quest (hiding places for school are given after slash when they differ from home, but you can take a task of any variant):

• under the table
• mirror
• a pillow / a plant
• a mailbox, or a toothbrush, or a pot, or a washing machine / a backpack, or a pencil case, or a door, or a towel
• find an adult
• a sink
• a fridge / a wall
• a chair
• a radiator
• a plate / a drawer
• a mat / a board

The "Secret card" hint assumes that you will write any place convenient for you.
