What is the "Spoooky party quest"?

This quest is an exciting adventurous game for children: a ready-for-print set of cards with tasks and puzzles in a "scary" theme. You can play it on Halloween or birthday party or just have fun any day!

The plot and preparation of the quest

Children receive an invitation to a "spooooky party" from Glangolda the Witch. Gifts and cool music are waiting for them! To get to the party, the children need to find and collect 9 witch’s friends – the monsters. It is necessary to look for hints and solve tasks, and the answer to each task will indicate where to look for the next hint. When all the monsters are at the party, the children will find out where the sweets or gifts are hidden!

It is very simple to prepare the quest – you need to read the instructions and print out the cards with tasks. You’ll need to cut some cards or write the hiding place word by letters. Then you’ll have to hide these hints according to the instructions, and prepare gifts at the end.

Hiding places

You can conduct this quest at home, at school, in a café or in the countryside. It’s a lot of fun to do the quest in the evening and use a flashlight in the process (but it’s totally up to you). The following hiding places are used in the quest:

• a hanger
• a toy
• lighting (any source of light that is not on the ceiling)
• a door
• a seat (chair, stool, bench)
• a cup
• heat (any source of heat: radiator, cooker, heater, stove, barbecue)
• for several cards, you choose any place yourself and write it on the card.

Gifts can be hidden in any place convenient for you.

Who is this quest for?

The quest is suitable for one child, several children or a whole class playing together as one team (good for both boys and girls). If there are a lot of children, make sure that all players get a chance to participate.

The quest is designed for children from 8 to 11 years old who already can read, but younger children and adults can also join.

This is how the quest tasks look like: following them, the children will not only solve puzzles, but also do various active and group tasks, play forfeits, dance with skeletons, make mummies out of dolls or each other. They will also have a creative task, practice logic, show ingenuity, and, of course, get involved in an exciting search operation.

Duration

The duration depends on the age and number of children: on average, the quest takes from 1 to 1.5 hours. The playtime can be adjusted by hiding the hints more simply or in a tricky way, giving children hints (if they need them or there are children younger than the recommended age).

To arrange the quest, you need

1. To prepare the quest, you need a color or black-and-white printer, paper, scissors, gifts or sweets.
2. Children will need a pen or a felt-tip pen to solve the puzzle, a glue stick to glue the bones on the silhouette of the skeleton, a hat or a bag for pulling out cards with forfeits, and toilet paper if you are going to play the mummy game.
